Day 3: 100 Things That You Love
It’s Day 3 of the Eleven Days of Breaking Out of the Muggle Mindset!
So here’s the activity for Day Three inspired by Julia Cameron’s book The Vein of Gold: A Journey To Your Creative Heart (check it out, it’s awesome).
Today’s Activity: 100 Things That You Love
Find a notebook that you can now make your “Wizarding Notebook.” If you don’t have a notebook, a few pages from any thing is fine. Go to a comfortable place. If you want to go all out put some relaxing music on, change the lighting, maybe light a candle (of course be safe if you do).
Now number your pages all the way up to 100. You may want to go past 100 to give yourself some “running room.”
Now go for it and make that list! It can be any thing. You can use animals, plants, all five senses, your intuition, your friends, your family, the arts, sports. Use memories, hopes, places, sounds, actions, attitudes, activities.
If you feel are feeling blocked, you can make the list “100 Things That You Are Grateful For” or perhaps simply “appreciate” (as “love,” “gratitude,” and “appreciation” are often pretty similar if not interchangeable)..
Another way to help with blocks is to go things when you were younger. Even things you barely remember. And still, allow yourself to get specific: waiting in line for that Harry Potter book at midnight, fresh raspberries, listening to RENT, being cared for when I’m sick, getting ready for school with my little brother, my grandmother’s hands, my aunts pasta, “red tulips and parrot tulips and dark violets and light or dark lilacs,” singing in the shower before breakfast, listening to Wizard Rock, etc.
As Julia Cameron puts it in The Vein of Gold: “This is a deceptively powerful exercise. It places you as the “I” at the “eye” of your own Universe. This is where all of us, actually always are, but we very often lose sight of this fact. Losing sight of this fact, we often lose the feeling of our own power. Since love is the most powerful energy available to us, focusing on what we love puts us squarely back into our own power.”
As members of the HP Alliance, the more in touch we are with love, the more in touch we are with the most powerful form of magic. I know that an exercise like this may be scary at first. But let’s all do it! And you can talk about your experience with it right here in our forums section.
As always, may the “Fawkes” be with you,
Andrew

This is cool! I can’t do it at work, but once I get home, I guarantee I’m going to need to de-stress time!

I love this exercise. I’m having such a busy week, that it might have to wait until tonight or tomorrow night, but it will get done!
